Tar steamer S/S Wenno is one of the Saimaa Geopark’s natural and cultural sites. S/S Wenno was built in 1907 to handle timber transportation for the Puumala Miettula sawmill. It is the only surviving iron-hulled steamer of the Saimaa’s large tar steamer fleet. The Puumala Boating Association renovated the ship for traffic and has maintained the operational condition of the ship together with the municipality of Puumala.
