Vallinkoski cultural landscape is a natural and cultural site of Saimaa Geopark. Vallinkoski was harnessed in 1944 when Enso’s power plant was completed. After that, the water level in Vuoksi rose and the potholes formed at the bottom of the Vallinkoski rapids were completely submerged. Back in the 19th century, Vallinkoski was a popular fishing spot.
